Read More	Mattie Florence Davenport Fraley, daughter of James Davenport and Cynthia Ann Duncan Davenport, was born in Republic County, Kansas, on June 12, 1890, and passed away at the Blue Valley Lutheran Home in Hebron, Nebraska, on June 16, 1974, at the age of 84 years and four days. Mattie was united in marriage to Owry Q. Fraley on October 19, 1911, and to this union six children were born. She spent her entire life in the Chester area except for four years with her parents in Sheridan County, Kansas. She was a member of the United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, O.Q. Fraley, one sister and three brothers. Mattie is survived by her six children: her son, Jayo of Visalia, Cal.; five daughters, Mrs. Edward Reed (Irene), Mrs. Howard Reed (Ina May), Mrs. Melvin Crouse (Ilo), all of Belleville, Ks.; Mrs. Don Eickman (Nellie Lou), Hastings; Mrs. Elmer W. Corbit (Betty June), Chadron; three brothers, Frank Davenport, Lincoln, Clay Davenport, Chester, Fred Davenport, Plattsmouth; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Oeltjen, Chester, and Mrs. Everett Clausen, Peru, 24 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Mattie will long be remembered as a mother to many, her house was a haven of rest for the weary, the troubled, and those who needed a life. "A mother of six, but a mother to many." Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 19, 1974, at the United Methodist Church of Chester, 1:30 p.m., conducted by the Reverends Norman Crounse and Opal Crounse. Soloist, Jim Eickman, was accompanied by Charleen Cain. Casket bearers were Lynn Reed, Howard E. Reed, Tad Eickman, Jerry Fraley, Richard Fraley, Wilbur Mussman. Interment was made in the Chester Cemetery, Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
