Description	:	Gingerich.-Mattie I., daughter of John L. and Mary (Jutzi) Mayer, was born in Ontario, Canada, Feb. 7, 1885; died at her home in Kalona, Iowa, Oct. 31, 1947; aged 62 y. 8 m. 24 d. She was in good health until the last nine years of her life, when she suffered periods of sickness affecting her lungs and heart. In April, 1908, she came with her parents from Canada to Pigeon, Mich., where she lived until her marriage to Ben G. Gingerich on Oct. 7, 1920, after which she moved to Kalona, Iowa, with her husband. While still living in Canada she accepted the Lord as her Saviour. Surviving are her husband, 3 sons (Floyd B., Delmar Ray, and Clifford John, all of Kalona, Iowa), one stepdaughter (Mildred Marie-Mrs. Raymond Zook, Riverside, Iowa), 4 grandchildren, 2 brothers (Sol and Ezra, Pigeon, Mich.), one sister (Lydia-Mrs. Marvin E. Miller, Fentress, Va.), and many other relatives and friends. Her parents, one sister (Emma-Mrs. Joel Widrick), one infant daughter (Ella Mae Blanche), and one stepson (Raymond Glen) preceded her in death. She was kindhearted and helpful, ever doing acts of kindness for her family and for others. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 3 at the home and at the Fairview Church, Kalona, in charge of E. G. Swartzendruber and A. S. Miller. Texts: Eccl. 12; John 14; and Matt. 5:6-8. Burial was made in the East Union Cemetery
