Read More	Boone News Republican December 7, 2015 Maxine Silvey November 26, 1931 – November 25, 2015 Maxine Silvey, age 83, of Stratford, died November 25, 2015, at the Westhaven Community in Boone. Following her wishes, she has been cremated. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 18, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford. Burial of her cremains will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, north of Stratford. Maxine Yuvonne Silvey was born in Stratford, Iowa, on November 26, 1931, the daughter of Harvey and Pearl (Neese) Hoshaw. She graduated from Stratford High School and on November 6, 1950, Maxine married Jesse Silvey in Polk County. Maxine was employed with the United States Postal Service in Stratford from 1977 to 1996, first as an administrative secretary and then served as Postmaster, retiring in October of 1996. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, the Stratford American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Lady of the Moose at the Boone Lodge. She enjoyed sports, especially basketball, dancing, flower gardening, and involvement in community activities. She was a member of the 2nd Conference All State Basketball team in high school. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse in 2000, four brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Silvey of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Rex Silvey of Dayton; two daughters, Teresa Peterson and husband John of Boone and Toni Jo Silvey of Houston, Texas; a brother, Roger Hoshaw and wife Irene of Webster City; a sister, Carolyn Isles and husband Larry of Stratford; a sister-in-law, Karen Hoshaw of West Des Moines; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Church on Friday the 18th from 9 a.m. until service time. In memory of Maxine, memorials may be directed to the family. Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone is in charge of the arrangements. ***************************** Maxine Silvey, age 83, of Stratford, died November 25, 2015, at the Westhaven Community in Boone.
