Description	:	Delphos Republican September 22, 1938 Melissa Jane Courtney, daughter of Wesley and Lydia Courtney, was born near Morgantown, West Virginia, Feb. 6, 1849. She lived there until 1865, when, with her parents, she moved to Fairbury, Ill., remaining there until some years later, then coming to Kansas. On April 7th, 1874, she was married to E.L. Bellows, afterwards moving to his homestead he had recently taken, living there until 1906, when they moved to Delphos, Kansas. She lived there until 1865, when, with her parents, she moved to Fairbury, Ill., remaining there until some years later, then coming to Kansas. On April 7th, 1874, she was married to E.L. Bellows, afterwards moving to his homestead he had recently taken, living there until 1906, when they moved to Delphos, Kansas. To this union were born three children, one who died in infancy, and two sons, Arthur and Charles, of Delphos, both of whom were at her bedside when the end came. In early life, Mrs. Bellows joined the Methodist Episcopal Church. Later, she joined the Free Methodists, continuing the faith to the end of her life. She leaves to mourn her death, her two sons, eight grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Bethel Church, Wednesday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. Joseph Bruce, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet, composed of Mrs. Ethel Thurston, Mrs. Maude Warren, Mr. G.F. Rollings, and Mr. B.S. Chance, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. George Woods. Interment was made in the Bethel Cemetery.
