Description	:	The Delphos Republican February 8, 1934 William Hansen Courtney was born near Morgantown, W. Va. on March 4, 1845, and departed this life at this home in Delphos, Kansas on February 4, 1934, at the age of eight-eight years and eleven months. He was married in Concordia, Kansas on October 25, 1877, to Miss Maria Adkinson, and to this union were born nine children, the eldest of whom, Bennie, passed away at the age of 18 years. Va. on March 4, 1845, and departed this life at this home in Delphos, Kansas on February 4, 1934, at the age of eight-eight years and eleven months. He was married in Concordia, Kansas on October 25, 1877, to Miss Maria Adkinson, and to this union were born nine children, the eldest of whom, Bennie, passed away at the age of 18 years. He lived with his family on a farm which he homesteaded in 1870, two miles north and one-half mile east of Delphos, until March, 1925. Having passed through the hardships of pioneer life they moved to Delphos, where they resided until the end came. He united with the Bethel Methodist Church in 1877, and was a regular attendant for many years. He greatly enjoyed the services of the church after he came to town, but his hearing being poor, he rarely attended during his later years. Though he suffered greatly for several years before his death, he was always patient and gentle and kind to those who cared for him. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and his passing will be greatly mourned. He leaves to mourn his departure beside his sorrowing widow the following children: Mrs. Sam Myers of Frankfort, Kansas; Mrs. Roy Harding of Topeka, Kansas; Mrs. Tom Wright of Medford, Ore.; Mrs. Lester Talley, Mrs. Frank Everley, and Preston, Blanch and Joe, all of Delphos, Kansas. There are also fifteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Malissa Bellows, and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. L.R. Fish at the Bethel Church Monday afternoon and burial was made in the Bethel Cemetery.
