Description	:	Son of John F. & Anna Otten Husmann Merlin Husmann age 72, of Monticello died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at St. Lukes Hospital Cedar Rapids Iowa from complications following heart surgery. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Thursday morning, June 16, 2011 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Kenneth, Robert, LaVerne and John and a sister, Marie Lubben. Merlin Otto Husmann was born October 2, 1938 at Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of John F. and Anna Otten, Husmann. He received his early education in the Black Oak School and completed his education in the Anamosa Community Schools. Merlin then started in his life work as a truck driver. He first started driving for Alan Siebels in Anamosa hauling hogs or lime. Merlin married Mary Allamand were on February 4, 1961 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. Merlin was then employed at the Stone City Quarry. He drove a gas truck for Jones County Oil for a number of years. Merlin then went to work at the Martelle Coop for 22 years where he drove a truck and also sprayed crops. Following his retirement he drove for Great Plains Gas Company and was currently driving for Behrends Quarry. Contributor Steve Hanken
