The operation was successful but complications developed which were the cause of death. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church, Graettinger. Many neighbors and friends were in attendance at the services. Doris Henningsen, Geraldine Reeves and Allan Hersleff and the Rev. Wm. G. Bohi sang, with Mrs. Robert Vasey as accompanist. The requested numbers were "The Old Rugged Cross," "Going Down the Valley," and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." The pastor, the Rev. Bohi, officiated at the services. Interment was in the cemetery east of Graettinger. Merritt William Curry, son of William and Emma Curry, was born at Madison, Greenwood county, Kansas, December 28, 1883. He moved with his parents to Haldane, Ogle county, Kansas, in 1892. In 1892 the family located at Ringsted. On July 27, 1909, he was united in marriage to Miss Marie Ellen Weir. To this union ten children were born, of whom eight are living. They are Mrs. Ellsworth Woods, Galesburg, Illinois; Miss Freelove Curry, who is at home; Benton, Graettinger; Gilbert, Arnolds Park; Russell, Bancroft; Ira, Herbert and Robert who are at home. A son, Clifford, age 19, met a tragic death in 1933 when he burned to death in a car accident. Another son, Lester, died in 1917 at the age of five years. Besides the widow and children Mr. Curry is survived by five grandchildren, by his aged mother, Mrs. Emma Curry, Fenton; and by two sisters and three brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Freelove Weisbrod, Fenton; Mrs. Elva Baker, Armstrong; and the brothers are Ross, LaMar,Colorado; Charles, Belvidere, Illinois; and Frank, Maywood, Illinois. Mr. Curry spent the most of his years around Graettinger with the exception of a few years when he was engaged in farming in Minnesota. Since that time he has been disabled due to ill health caused by arthritis. Mr. Curry was a loving and devoted husband, father and brother and will be missed very much by those who were near and dear to him. He was a man who merited the good will of his neighbors and friends. His death will be sincerely mourned by all who knew him. The Times extends sympathy to Mrs. Curry and to the sons and daughters and grandchildren and to the aged mother and the brothers and sisters in their sorrow.
