Description	:	Michael Ford, one of the oldest settlers of the state died at Letcher on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 19, 1913. Mr. Ford was born in Galway City Ireland, Aug. 31 1834, was married to Julia Feeney in 1853 and the same year emigrated to America settling first in Ohio and later in Iowa. He came to South Dakota in 1883 and filed on a claim in Davidson Co. Read More	Michael Ford, one of the oldest settlers of the state died at Letcher on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 19, 1913. Mr. Ford was born in Galway City Ireland, Aug. 31 1834, was married to Julia Feeney in 1853 and the same year emigrated to America settling first in Ohio and later in Iowa. He came to South Dakota in 1883 and filed on a claim in Davidson Co. Soon after the death of his wife which occurred ten years ago he came to Letcher, where he has since resided until the time of his death. Mr. Ford was the father of eleven children, two girls and nine boys. Those who survive him are Mrs. M.E. Stevens and Wm. Ford of Seneca, SD, Michael Ford, Jr. of Salt Lake, Utah, John, Thomas, Martin, Daniel and Edward Ford of Letcher, SD. Mr. Ford was a member of the Catholic church and died in the faith. The funeral services were at the Catholic church in Letcher on Friday, Nov. 21st after which the remains were laid to rest in St. Scholastica's Cemetery. Mr. Ford lived to a good old age and was esteemed and respected by all who knew him. Like Paul, he'd fought a good fight, finished the course and kept the faith. The old pioneer who braved the trying times in the development of our state has gone to his reward. To the mourning friends we extend our sympathy.
