Read More	********************************************************* CRASH KILLS MOTORCYCLIST PLATTSMOUTH MAN HIT NEAR FORT CROOK MICKEY DUDA DIES AS RESULT OF CAR MOTORCYCLE CRASH __________________________________________________________ MICHAEL F. (Mickey) DUDA, 41, well known Plattsmouth, NE, resident was fatally injured on Friday afternoon January 9, 1948 at 12:15 p.m. as a result of injuries received in a motorcycle-auto crash on Highway 75 at Fort Crook. He died shortly after 3 o'clock at the Fort Crook Hospital where he had been taken by members of the Highway Patrol and members of the hospital staff. The injured Mr. Duda was found to be suffering from a fractured jaw and skull, with both arms broken, sustained when he was hurled from the motorcycle he was operating after it crashed with an automobile. The motorcycle that he was operating collided with the car in front of the south entrance to Fort Crook. Driver of the auto, Frank Platt, 32, a farmer near Fort Crook, was not injured. Highway Patrolman Frank Whalen, who was near the scene of the accident, stated that Mr. Duda was traveling south on Highway 75 at the time of the accident and Mr. Platt was coming north toward toward Fort Crook. Mr. Platt turned to his left to go onto graveled Highway 31 at the time Mr. Duda's motorcycle struck the car on the right front fender. Sarpy County Attorney Orville Entenman said no charges would be filed against Mr. Platt. The body of Mr. Duda, an employee of BREX shops in this city, was taken to the Caldwell Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. Michael F. Duda, son of Ferdinand and Anna Duda, was born at Plattsmouth, Nebraska, August 16, 1916. He has spend his lifetime in this community, attending the local schools. After his school work he entered the services of the local railroad shops and where he was employed at the time of his death. On February 7, 1926, he was married at Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Miss Florence Kaufman, and they made there home at 15th and Pearl streets. Michael Duda leaves behind his wife, Florence, daughters, Florene and Shirley; parents Ferdinand and Anna (Sedlack) Duda, of Omaha; one brother, Fred "Fritz" Duda, of Long Beach California, two sisters, Mrs. W.J. (Anna) Taylor of McCook, Nebraska and Mrs. Mary Keller, of Lakewood, California. Preceded in death by his daughter Joan Ruth. Funeral services will be held at the Holy Rosary church on Tuesday, January 13, 1948 at 10:00 o'clock. Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Plattsmouth. Caldwell Funeral Home, Plattsmouth is in charge of arrangements.
