Mrs. Ross died Tuesday, March 10, 1992, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 1, 1904, in Yates Center, the daughter of Jacob Fredrick and Emma Christine Post Schoepflin. At age 3, she and her family moved to the Baldwin area, where she grew up and attended schools. She graduated from Baldwin High School and attended Baker University. Mrs. Ross died Tuesday, March 10, 1992, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 1, 1904, in Yates Center, the daughter of Jacob Fredrick and Emma Christine Post Schoepflin. At age 3, she and her family moved to the Baldwin area, where she grew up and attended schools. She graduated from Baldwin High School and attended Baker University. She earned a bachelor of science degree and a master's degree in education from Kansas University. Mrs. Ross began her teaching career at rural schools and later taught in the Kansas City, Kan., school district. She spent most of her career in the Shawnee Mission school district as an elementary school teacher until she retired in 1978. Her career in education and teaching spanned more than 47 years. Mrs. Ross lived in Kansas City, Kan., most of her life, before moving back to Baldwin in 1988. She married Finis E. Ross, and he died in January 1987. A member of the Methodist Church, Mrs. Ross also belonged to several teachers associations, including the National Education Assn. and the Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers' Society. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. Mrs. Ross is survived by a stepson, Virgil Ross, Washington, D.C.; a brother, Homer H. Schoepflin, Baldwin; and two nieces and two nephews.
