Read More	CALVARY RESIDENT DIED ON THURSDAY Mrs. Minerva Riggin Was Recuperating Here Mrs. Minerva Riggin, one of the community's most highly respected matrons, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis F. Ward, at 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning. She would have been 80 years of age on March 12th. Mrs. Riggin had been a patient at the Franklin Square hospital in Baltimore last October, where she underwent a serious operation, and she came here to recuperate. The seriousness of the operation and her advanced age were too much for her recuperative powers, and she passed away on Thursday after making a valiant fight for life. She was the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Harriett A. Nelson, and the widow of the late Don. P. Riggin, who died about ten years ago. She was born in the Calvary section and lived there for many years. In 1917 she moved to Baltimore to make her home, and during the past ten years, since the death of her husband, has been spending her time with her two daughters, one in Crisfield, the other in Baltimore. Mrs. Riggin was a woman of fine personality, beloved by all who knew her. She had been active in church and her community affairs while she lived here, and was a good neighbor and friend. No task was too difficult for her to perform for those in trouble or sickness, and many will remember her for her kind deeds and gentle manner. Funeral services will be held in Asbury Methodist church at 11:00 this Sunday. She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Lewis F. Ward of Crisfield and Mrs. Marvin C. Haynes, of Baltimore, and two sons, John W. Riggin and Walter N. Riggin, both of Baltimore; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Lawson and Mrs. Mary Beauchamp, and four brothers, James L. Nelson, Ralph Nelson, John W. Nelson and Elmer Nelson, all of this city, also survive.
