Scheips based his comforting words on the fourth chapter of Hebrews, verses 9 and 11, "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God, Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief." He spoke of her long life and the many hardships and sorrows which she endured, through which she remained faithful to her God and was a regular attendant at Sunday services as long as her health permitted. Minnie Pfeil, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pfeil, was born 27 July 1860, in Germany. She was married to Fred Lehmann on 4 January 1885 and in 1890 they emigrated to America, settling near Hoskins, Nebraska. In 1915, the family retired and moved to Pierce, where for many years they resided in a comfortable home in the east part of town. They were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in 1935 and their sixtieth in 1945. Mr. Lehmann passed away two months later, 12 March 1945. Since that time Mrs. Lehmann has been making her home with her children here in Pierce. She was the mother of ten children, four dying in infancy and Mrs. Bernard Wieting, who died 15 years ago. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Among the survivors are three sons, William of Denver, Fred of Mission, South Dakota, and Arthur of Pierce; two daughters, Mrs. Chas. Wichman of Norfolk and Mrs. Emil Vonderohe of Pierce; one sister, Mrs Louise Petzold of Wisconsin; also sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Burial followed in the Lutheran cemetery beside the grave of her husband, with Henry Manske, Edward Fullner, Lawrence Kolterman, Louise Beyer, Ernest Voecks and Albert Noerenburg as pallbearers. Out-of-town relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. Wm Lehmann, Denver, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wichman, Norfolk; Fred Lehmann, Mission, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Lehmann and family, Columbus; Mr. and Mrs Ruben Wichman, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. ? Peters, Wakefield; and Mr. and Mrs. George Peters, Wayne.
