Her mother's maiden name is Menke. Mrs. Wm. Simeon, one of the pioneer women of Plymouth county, passed away at her home in this city Saturday morning, November 28, 1925, at the age of 55 years, 4 months, and 4 days. She had been in declining health for several years from diabetes and although everything that loving care and medical science could accomplish was done, including insulin treatment. It was impossible to arrest the course of her affiction. Loving relatives and friends did all they could to make her remaining days on earth easy and comfortable until the inevitable final summons came. Minnie Hitzeman was born July 24, 1870, in Cedar county, Iowa, where she spent her young girlhood. At the age of twelve years she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hitzeman (both of whom are deceased) to Plymouth county, Iowa and located on a farm twelve miles west of Le Mars where she lived until her marriage to Wm. Simeon of Akron, Iowa September 14, 1889. They have made their home in Akron for the past thirty-six years. Besides the bereaved husband, those left to mourn her taking away are two sons and two daughters --Mrs. John P. Hamman, of Elk Point, S. D.; Frank of Akron, Ia.; Henry, of Paulina, Ia., and Pansy, at home--and ten grandchildren. Also five brothers and two sister--Mrs. W. H. Whitehouse and Mrs. Chris. Reemts, of Akron; August, Herman, and Louis Hitzeman, of Akron; Charles Hitzeman, of Akron; Charles Hitzeman, of Sioux City, and George Hitzeman, of Sioux City, and George Hitzeman, of Sioux City, and George Hitzeman, of Long Beach, Calif. All have the deep sympathy of the community in their bereavement. Mrs. Simeon was widely known and highly esteemed for her spendid womanly Traits, her willing helpfulness, and her kind and sympathetic nature. Her home and family came first yet she always found a way to help others who were in need or distress. She was a faithful and consistent member of St. Patrick's Catholic church and while health permitted was active in its social affairs. For many years she was a member of the local Woman's Relief Corps and this Royal Neighbors lodge. A devoted wife, mother, and sister, a valued neighbor and friend, she will be widely missed and mourned. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Patrick's Catholic church, conducted by Rev. Fr. Doyle, of Trinity college, Sioux City. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery here. Relatives from out of town in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John Hamman, of Elk Point, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Simeon, of Paulina, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hitzeman and Pete Simeon and family, of Sioux City; Phil Simeon and Mrs. Gus. Luken, of Le Mars; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Broullette and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Muir and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bauerly, of Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Simeon, of Brunsville, Iowa.
