Read More	TATRO, MINNIE MAY — Minnie May Hunter Tatro was born in Ford County, Illinois, December 28, 1872. She passed away February 12, 1968, at the Colonial Manor Nursing home in Geneva at eh age of 95 years, 1 month and 15 days. She was the daughter of William and Mary Hunter. As a young woman, she moved with her parents and eight brothers and sisters to a farm near Oakdale, Neb. She was united in marriage to Frank C. Tatro, September 25, 1890. This union was blessed with three daughters and two sons, Rosella, Dorothy, Donna, Duane and Donald. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy, Mrs. Glenn Richards, her husband, Frank, another daughter, Rosella, Mrs. Harry Ward, a grandson, Doyle Richards and a great-granddaughter, Denise Gillaim. Mr. and Mrs. Tatro lived on a farm south of Oakdale, Neb. They were baptized in the Elkhorn River, uniting with the Baptist church in 1893. They resided on a farm near clay Center and in 1900 they moved to a farm northeast of Geneva, later moving into town. They transferred their membership to the Geneva Methodist church in 1922. Mrs. Tatro was a faithful member and attendant of her church as long as her health permitted. Her worn Bible was an evidence of her belief in her Saviour. She helped organize the South Madison extension club, being one of the charter members. She enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and friends at the club. She was made an honorary member a few years ago. She and her husband were great lovers of music. In her early years she played and they sang for many funerals. This love of music she passed on to her children. She had a beautiful voice, even in the later years of her life, having sung while in the hospital during her long stay there. She loved flowers and was always happy to share them with others. She loved her home, remarking many times there’s no better place than one’s own home. She was always thinking of others and even to the last would tell those around her they had better go home and get their rest. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends and performed many acts of kindness for them. She leaves to mourn her passing, one daughter, Donna, Mrs. Cecil Richards and husband of near Grafton, son Duane and wife Hazel and son Donald and wife Irene of Geneva, a half-brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Will Brittain, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. George Hunter, of Oakdale, 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. “Grandma” Tatro, as she was known to everyone, will be greatly missed by those who learned to love her. Funeral services were conducted from the Geneva Methodist church at 2 p. m. Thursday, February 15. Rev. K. Orlando Lee officiated. William Kinder sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beyond the Sunset.” Mrs. Melvin Olson was accompanist. Pallbearers were Keith Tatro, Darlo, Dean, and Dale Richards, Ronald Tatro and Donald Ward.
