Description	:	Mrs. Minnie S. Bishop died February 14, 1908, at her home in Slater, Mo. Her remains were brought to the home of her brother, Elbert Bates, at Dimondale, Mich. The funeral was held at the Methodist Protestant church. Rev. Sly officiated, assisted by Rev. Powell. The text, the 23rd Psalm, was chosen by the brothers and sisters. Minnie S. The text, the 23rd Psalm, was chosen by the brothers and sisters. Minnie S. Bates was born September 14, 1870, in the town of Cambridge, Lenawee county, Michigan. At the age of seventeen she moved with her parents to Eaton county. She was the youngest daughter of E.S. and Margaret Bates. She was united in marriage, December 25, 1888, to O.E. Bishop. Three children came to bless their home: Arlo, Ivan and Loren. She was a devoted wife and a kind and loving mother. Besides her family she leaves an aged father and mother, one sister and two brothers, and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. She was, early in life, converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church. She was a modest, retiring woman, and was much loved by those who knew her well. Her faith was childlike and her life pure. She bore with quiet Christian fortitude her great suffering, and we believe was ready when her summons came to the "Father's house." Her desire in life was to care for her family, who will in future years remember her many veritable motherly acts which she tried to impress upon their inmost souls, that they might become noble men. "There is no death: the Father calls her home, In tender, loving care He bids her come. Away from earth, away from weary care, To higher, better life - to scenes more fair."
