Phipps,Jr. She was born March 13, 1941 in Independence, Va., to Carl Cleveland Brewer and Georgie Lee Holdaway Brewer. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Bennett Smith of Greensboro, N.C.; son, Tad Bennett of Sparta, N.C.; stepdaughter, Angie Phipps of Galax, Va.; two grandsons, Jacob Bennett and Zachery (Courtney) Bennett of Sparta, N.C.; two sisters, Lura (Bobby) Davis of Galax, Va., and Dorothy (James) Templeton of Sparta, N.C.; two brothers, Garfield (Debbie) Brewer of Galax, Va., and McKee... A memorial service was held Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, Va., with interment in Bridle Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Matthew S. Farabow officiated. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Twin County Hospice, P. O. Box 106, Galax, Va 24333 or the charity of choice.
