Cole Held Sunday Lived Most Of Life In Loup City; In First Graduating Class Funeral services for Mrs. H. J. Cole were held in the Methodist church in Loup City Sunday afternoon. Rev. E. R. Peterson conducted the services, and burial was made in Evergreen cemetery. Myrtle Calista Williams, daughter of Lewis A. and Amanda Williams, was born January 6, 1873, near Georgetown, Grant county, Wisconsin, and departed this life in the State Tuberculosis Hospital at Kearney, Nebraska, on December 1, 1938, aged 65 years, 10 months and 25 days. Her early childhood was spent in Wisconsin. At the age of 12 she came with her parents to Loup City, Nebraska, where she has since made her home. She graduated from the Loup City High School in 1891, one of the three members of the first graduating class of the Loup City High School and after graduating, she taught school for six years in Sherman county. On June 26, 1895, just ten years to a day after she arrived in Loup City, she was united in marriage to Hansford Jay Cole at Loup City. To this union were born 10 children, eight daughters and two sons. One daughter died in infancy. Surviving her, are her husband, seven daughters, Mrs. Jennie Richards and Mrs. Jessie Kee of Austin, Minn., Mrs. Harriet Marshall of Elm Creek, Nebr., Mrs. Mattie Collins of Broken Bow, Mrs. Myrtle Hagar of Kokomo, Indiana, Mrs. Calla Petersen and Mrs. Lois Carrol of Loup City; two sons, A. P. Cole of Broken Bow and Joe L. Cole of Clear Lake, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Edna Howard of Newberg, Oregon. For the past two years, she has been in poor health. On May 29, 1938, she entered the hospital at Kearney. She kept a cheerful attitude during all her illness. It was characteristic with her to look upon life from the brighter side. With unfailing devotion, she gave herself in service to her family. Though her departure is greatly missed, the memory of her cheery spirit and loving service is greatly treasured by her loved ones and many friends. Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. Joe L. Cole of Clear Lake, Iowa; Mrs. E. D. Richards and Mrs. Fred Kee of Austin, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Cole and sons, H. J. Cole and Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Collins and baby of Broken Bow and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Marshall and family of Elm Creek and numerous other relatives and friends. The Sherman County Times - Dec 8 1938
