Description	:	Nancy Elizabeth Whiteley, daughter of Harry and Emily Whiteley, was born in Gentry County, near Albany, Missouri, August 4, 1863, and departed this life at her home in Nelson, Nebraska, October 7, 1939, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 3 days. She was united in marriage to James A. Demilt October 2, 1881, at Albany, Mo., enjoying 58 years of happy wedded life together. Eight years ago they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Read More	Nancy Elizabeth Whiteley, daughter of Harry and Emily Whiteley, was born in Gentry County, near Albany, Missouri, August 4, 1863, and departed this life at her home in Nelson, Nebraska, October 7, 1939, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 3 days. She was united in marriage to James A. Demilt October 2, 1881, at Albany, Mo., enjoying 58 years of happy wedded life together. Eight years ago they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. It was a happy occasion, the children all being at home. In 1883 they moved to Nebraska and settled in Saline county (sic); lived there five years and then moved to Jefferson county (sic); lived there three years and in 1892 they moved to Nuckolls county (sic) where they have resided ever since. Mrs. Demilt was converted and joined the Christian Church of Nelson about twenty-five years ago and remained a faithful member until she was called home. She could say with the Apostle Paul, as he expressed it at the close of his life's work, "I have faught (sic) a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me at that day. Tim. 4:7-8. Left to mourn her departure is her faithful companion of 58 years, and six children, one son and five daughters: Mr. Chas. Demilt, Mrs. Ola Meyer, Mrs. Nettie Meyer, Mrs. Effie Bargen, Mrs. Winnie Williams and Mrs. Audrey McCutchan (two daughters died in infancy); one sister, Mrs. S.A. Peery, Galena, Mo.; one brother, J.A. Whiteley of Meridian, Idaho; 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Demilt was always mindful of others, even during her worst illness she was more concerned of her husband the children and grand-children than of herself; always asking about them and thinking not so much of her sickness and health. Her thoughts were for others as well as for herself. MEMORY OF MOTHER At evening time it shall be light, The Prophet foretold of Israel's night, When all their age-long yokes are broken And the peace of God to them is spoken. So through our lives with their joy and care, Will yield at last to a time more fair, When our faith shall lose itself in sight, At evening time it shall be light. Mother has gone to a better land, Smiles on her face--a wave of the hand; Her heart aglow with heaven's delight, At evening time it shall be light. Why should our hearts be burdened and sad, Why should we not look up and be glad, That this beautiful soul has taken its flight, At evening time it shall be light. The bright clouds hang in brilliant array, After the sun has faded away, This sainted life ever speaks with night, At evening time it shall be light. The funeral service was held in the Christian church (sic) Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Pastor C.M. Foust. Interment was made in Nelson cemetery (sic). The pallbearers were Harlan Zimmerman, Lloyd Bargen, Ralph Meyer, Floyd Meyer, Kenneth Meyer and Eldon Higby. Among the large number in attendance at the funeral of Mrs. Jas. Demilt these were from out of town: Mrs. Herbert Yost, Nebraska City; Mr. and Mrs. Edlon (sic) Higby, Aurora; A.M. Demilt and two daughters of Dickens; Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Sykes, Ruskin; Mrs. Fred Grummert, Superior; Mr. and Mrs. John Aubushon and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stokes, Red Cloud; Jim Bargen, Kearney. CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our thanfulness to the many friends and neighbors for their help to us, during the long illness of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, for the flowers, music, and many other kind deeds to our loved one.
