Description	:	Nancy Fleming Russell was born in Mill Creek (now Belle Valley) Pennsylvania December 31, 1815. Her father, Hamlin Russell, was born March 5, 1781 at Stepney, Connecticut. His father was Nathaniel Russell, born May 5, 1741. He served as Corporal in the Connecticut Militia during the Revolutionary War and was with Washington at Valley Forge. His father, Rev. Daniel Russell, born June 3, 1702 at Middletown, Connecticut was the first pastor of Stepney parish and was 31 years in the ministry. His father, Rev. Noadiah Russell, was born July 25, 1659 at New Haven, Connecticut. He was a graduate of Harvard, College in 1681, and was one of the founders of Yale. His name is on the first diploma. His father, William Russell was born October 11, 1612 in England, probably Hertfordshire County. He came to New Haven in 1639. Nancy is said to have had good health until 1874 when a malignant tumor appeared in her breast. Dr. Christy took her to Erie, Pennsylvania, her former home for surgery, which appeared to be successful for a few years. later the tumor reappeared and caused her death in 1877 at age 61.
