Nancy married Thomas Hart Sept 2, 1847 in Andrew Co., Mo. DEATHS. Hart. "Aunt Nancy" Hart, as she was familiarly known, died at the home of her son, T. J. Hart, 2 miles north of Reserve, Monday, March 5, at 1 p. m. Mrs. Hart had been afflicted for 15 years with rheumatism but was only ill 10 days, suffering from a slight paralytic stroke. She was conscious to the last. Nancy J. Gillispie was born in Richmond, Ky., October 27[sic], 1827, and was married to Thomas Hart in Andrew county, Mo., in 1847. Thomas Hart died December 13, 1895. In 1856 Mr. and Mrs. Hart moved to Brown county and settled on the Hart homestead near Reserve, where Mrs. Hart lived for 50 years. Seven children survive her. They are: Wm. H. Hart of Seattle, Wash.; T. J. Hart, Mrs. R. M. Stewart, Jackson Hart, Mrs. Sarah E. Davis, Perry F. Hart, of Reserve, and Harvey W. Hart, of Hiawatha. Besides the children there are 30 grand children and 12 great grandchildren. Mrs. Hart was also a sister of Henry Gillispie, of Reserve. The funeral was held at the Christian church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. T. H. Smith, of Nebraska City. Mrs. Hart had been a faithful member of this church for 40 years. The church was crowded with the many friends. Burial was made in the Hart cemetery. A better woman never lived than Mrs. Hart. She was ideal in her kind ways and true neighborly spirit. No one ever came into her presence without feeling the charm of her helpful disposition. Samuel Gillispie, of Chicago, Sam Stewart, of Savannah, Mo.; Mrs. Jennie Buck, of Naponee, Neb., and J. Englecamp, of Centralia, came to attend the funeral. —The Brown County World (Hiawatha, KS) Fri March 9, 1906, p.22.
