NELLIE VAN MATRE Nellie Maude Van Matre, daughter of John and Lillie Quinn, was born near Oxford, Nebraska, August 18, 1901, and passed away May 2, 1975, at Alma, Nebraska at the age of 73 years. She grew up in the Oxford area and attended Oxford schools. She was united in marriage to Lynn Van Matre on Febr. 11, 1920, and to this union seven children were born, two of whom died in infancy. NELLIE VAN MATRE Nellie Maude Van Matre, daughter of John and Lillie Quinn, was born near Oxford, Nebraska, August 18, 1901, and passed away May 2, 1975, at Alma, Nebraska at the age of 73 years. She grew up in the Oxford area and attended Oxford schools. She was united in marriage to Lynn Van Matre on Febr. 11, 1920, and to this union seven children were born, two of whom died in infancy. She is survived by four daughter and one son, Ardyth Thorn of Lebanon, Oregon, Zona Longsine of Papillion, Nebraska, Wayne Van Matre of Gordon, Nebraska, Marvel Fisher of St. Paul, Nebraska and Phyllis Weber of Lebanon, Oregon; four sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Anna Longsine of Oxford and one brother, Joe Quinn, also of Oxford; other relatives and many friends. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Oxford. She enjoyed the respect, admiration and friendship of all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church, Oxford, May 5, 1975, with Rev. John Akers officiating. Music was provided by Richard York and Beulah Fish. Pallbearers were Emery Quinn, Floyd Quinn, Geo. Quinn, John Quinn, Howard Quinn and Jerry Quinn with interment in the Oxford Cemetery. Mitchell Funeral Home, Oxford, directed arrangements.
