Hansen Nora Dorthea Jensen was born in Kearney county, Nebraska, November 26, 1897, and departed this life at her home in Minden, February 20, 1925, at the age of 27 years, 2 months and 25 days. She was united in marriage to Walter L. Hansen on September 20, 1916. They lived on a farm southeast of Minden until the spring of 1922 when they moved to Minden. One child came to bless this home, Vergene Catherine, age 6. As a girl of 14 she was confirmed in the Fredericksburg Lutheran church and remained a member of that church until her death. She had placed her trust in Christ as her Savior, living a consistent Christian life, and was especially conscious of His nearness to her during the closing days of her life. Mrs. Hansen had suffered for a number of years from the malady from which death finally brought relief. Although suffering at times intensely she patiently endured. One thing which greatly aided her in withstanding the disease which afflicted her body was her constant cheerfulness. Those who came to bring cheer and encouragement often took away with them more than they brought. Her optimistic thoughts were continually expressed in her characteristic smile. She was truly unselfish and thoughtful of others even in the days of her sickness. She was also a loving wife and mother, being industrious and ambitious, providing a true home for her husband and little Vergene. She is survived by her husband and daughter, her mother, Mrs. J. C. Jensen, and five sisters and six brothers. Her father and one brother and sister have preceded her in death. We mourn not for her as those who have no hope for we are assured that Christ has come to receive her into the heavenly mansions prepared for her. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, February 22, 1925, at the home and at the Fredericksburg Lutheran church conducted by the Rev. D. H. Brush, assisted by the Rev. K. Nyegaard.
