Houmark, was born on a farm southeast of Minden in the Fredericksburg community on July 13, 1894 and died at his home in Minden September 7, 1935. From early boyhood he showed an interest in mechanics and... Read More	John J. Jensen MINDEN, Sept. 12 – John J. Jensen, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Houmark, was born on a farm southeast of Minden in the Fredericksburg community on July 13, 1894 and died at his home in Minden September 7, 1935. He was baptized and confirmed in the Fredericksburg Lutheran Church. He was married to Dagny Christensen February 28, 1917, and they had three children, Milrae, who died at the age of ten months, Gilbert, aged 15 years, and Norma, aged 10. From early boyhood he showed an interest in mechanics and took an unusual interest in automobiles and their parts. He established himself in the automobile repair business and later made a speciality of electrical work. In this line his mechanical genius expressed itself in a number of inventions. Only recently he built a “wind electric generator” and was about ready to place it on the market. He was interested in church work. He and his family united with the Bethany Lutheran Church of Minden in 1927 and he has since taken an active part in the work of the church, being president of the congregation at the time of his death. Besides his wife and children he leaves four brothers and four sisters, Harry Jensen of the Fredericksburg community, Thorvald Jensen of Alma, Willie Jensen of Burbank Field, Calif., Carl Jensen of Holdrege, Mrs. Emma Zike of Minden, Mrs. Tilda Johnson of the Fredericksburg community, Mrs. Martha Fenton of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Agnes Wilson of Whittier, Calif. Two brothers and three sisters have preceded him in death. Funeral services were held from the Fredericksburg Lutheran Church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. A. Hofgaard, assisted by the Rev. John C. Romer. Burial was made in the Fredericksburg cemetery. - The Hastings Daily Tribune (Hastings, NE), Vol. 30, No. 249, Thurs. 12 Sep 1935, p. 5, col. 3-4.
