Description	:	Stratford Courier October 23, 1913 Obituary Nora May Deck was born in Webster county, Iowa, May 16, 1866, and died October 15, 1913, at the age of 17 years, 4 months and 29 days. She was the third child of John and Sarah L. Deck. At the age of six years she had scarlet fever, which left her a cripple and a constant sufferer until death claimed her at her parental home where she was making her mother a visit. Read More	Stratford Courier October 23, 1913 Obituary Nora May Deck was born in Webster county, Iowa, May 16, 1866, and died October 15, 1913, at the age of 17 years, 4 months and 29 days. She was the third child of John and Sarah L. Deck. At the age of six years she had scarlet fever, which left her a cripple and a constant sufferer until death claimed her at her parental home where she was making her mother a visit. Being of an ambitious nature she commenced teaching school at the age of 16 years and taught for twenty four consecutive years or until April, 1906, when she was married to Peter Peterson of Hawarden, Iowa, where they made their home for a while, then moved to West Point, Nebraska, where they resided for one year, moving from there to Linn Grove, Iowa, which was her home at the time of her death. One child was born, which unfortunately died very suddenly at four months of age. At the age of 22 she was converted and joined the Methodist church, of which she was an active member of a number of years or up to a few years ago, when she became a member of the Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene, being an active member of this church until her death. She was also a very active member of the W.C.T.U. She leaves to mourn her death a husband, daughter Ella, a mother and two brothers, William J. Deck of Crosby, North Dakota, and W.J. Deck of Truman, Minnesota, a large number of relatives and a host of friends. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. Albertson and was attended by a large crowd of friends and relatives of the deceased. The remains were interred in the Oakwood cemetery. Card of Thanks.
