Description	:	Sioux City - Norman W. Lias, 77, of Sioux City passed away Mon. 7 Aug. 2017, at his home. Services will be 10 a.m. Thurs. 10 Aug. 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Brent Lingle officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Westfield Twp. (IA.) Cemetery. Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Wed., with family present 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary by the 3rd degree Knights of Columbus at 6:30 p.m. & a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Norman was born 7 Dec. 1939, on the family farm near Westfield, IA., the son of Wayne W. & E. Pauline (Michael) Lias. He graduated from Westfield High School on 17 May 1958, married Mary Lou Boyle. He served with the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. He & his wife returned to IA. to work & raise a family. Norman attended Western Iowa Tech & worked several years in the field of heating & A/C. He returned to WIT & for over 22 years was an instructor of heating & A/C, retiring in 2006. His younger days Norman enjoyed racing motorcycles. He was an avid hunter & fisherman. Norman was the man who could fix or make just about anything, & was always the first one to lend a helping hand. Toward retirement he was able to put his creative mind to work. He served as a consultant for private companies, he hand crafted a variety of furniture for his many family members & participated in art, painting & writing classes. He relaxed by reading Louis L'Amour books, watching his John Wayne collection of movies & feeding the bird & squirrels from his custom built feeders. Norman enjoyed & was extremely proud of his family. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Lou; daughters, Patti (George) Turcotte of Kalispell, MT., Marie (Jeff) Simmons of Sioux City & Paulette (Greg) Klemme of Akron, IA.; brother, Don Lias of McCook Lake, SD.; sister, Fran Wirth of Blue Earth, MN.; 13 grandchildren & 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Hoffman; brother, Harry "Bud" Lias; brother-in-laws, Al Wirth & Daryled Hoffman & nephew, Donald James Lias. source: Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel
