Allender was the son of Wesley F. and Mary Ellen Mitts Allender, and was born March 6, 1872. Allender was the son of Wesley F. and Mary Ellen Mitts Allender, and was born March 6, 1872. A life resident of Henry County, he retired from the farm 15 years ago and moved into Mount Pleasant six years ago. He was a member of the IOOF at Olds. Allender was married to Minnie Bates on April 20, 1898. She died October 10, 1937 and on January 11, 1944, he was married to Pearl Cowley. She survives as do three sons: Edgar Allender, Bakersfield, California and Elmer and Wilber Bates both living on Mount Pleasant rural route five. Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Phil Visser, Pella, and Mrs. Dan White, Mount Pleasant; two grandchildren; one great grandchild and one step grandchild. Four sisters died previously. Services will be held at the Crane Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Tuesday. Dr. E. A. Mathews, associate pastor of First Methodist Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Richwood Cemetery.
