Geuder and Mr. Oscar C. Niemeyer, both of this city. Miss Louise Geuder, of this city and cousin of the bride, and Mr. George Geuder, of this city and brother of the bride, were the attendents. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Geuder Sr., of Guttenberg, and is a comely young lady, whose many virtues has endeared her to a large circle of friends. She grew to young womanhood here and is qualified in every respect to preside over a home of her own. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Niemeyer, of Guttenberg. He is an industrious and likeable young man whose friends are legion. At present he is successfully holding a position with Kuempel Bros. as plumber. He is well worthy of his chosen bride. After the marriage ceremony at the Parsonage a reception of the newly married couple took place at the home of the bride's parents, at which a number of relatives and friends were present, and most pleasant hours were enjoyed by all. The happy young couple will reside in Guttenberg, and that they may have as abundance of happiness and prosperity on their journey through life is the wish of their numerous friends. They are both most worthy young people. +++ The Guttenberg Press, IA, Thursday April 12, 1951, pg. 1, cols. 2-3; pg. 4, col. 2 NIEMEYER SERVICES ON SUNDAY Military Rites Held For Well-Known Resident Full military honors were paid to Oscar C. Niemeyer at funeral services on Sunday afternoon at the Tuecke Funeral home under the auspices of Prairie la Porte Post, No. 373, of the American Legion. The services were conducted by Rev. J. F. Eshbaugh, chaplain of the American Legion Post. Burial was in the Guttenberg city cemetery with the following ex-service men as pallbearers. A. J. Lake, G. W. Hunt, John Adam, Clarence Saeugling, Harry Fricke, and Frank Fukey. Mr. Niemeyer died on April 5 at Riverview hospital following a long illness. He was 63 years and 22 days old. Mr. Niemeyer was born in Guttenberg on March 14, 1888, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt Henry Niemeyer, prominent early settlers of the community. He attended St. Mary's parochial school and for thirty years was associated with the Kuempel Plumbing and Heating company. Active in civic affairs, Mr. Niemeyer had served a number of years as a member of the City Park board of which he was a member at the time of his death, and had been a member of the Volunteer Fire company for ten years. He was city assessor for 23 years. Mr. Niemeyer was inducted into the armed forces during World War I on September 4, 1917, and on September 28 was made a corporal and on December 1 of that year became a sergeant. He was honorably discharged on June 15, 1919 after having served twenty one months, nine of them overseas. He was a charter member of the American Legion post here and for 25 years was a finance officer. On November 19, 1919, he married Miss Mollie Geuder at St. John's Lutheran parsonage and the couple had been residents here since that time. In addition to Mrs. Niemeyer, Mr. Niemeyer is survived by a sister, Mrs. Sherman West of Moulton, Iowa, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward, and three sisters, Mrs. Joe Trumm, Mrs. John Heitman, and Cecelia, who died in infancy.
