Cannon occurred the marriage of their daughter, Osceola to Mr. Claud (sic) Flower, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.K. Flower. ========================= The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, August 3, 1978; pg. 4 Ocie C. Flower, one of four children of Smith J. Cannon and Iva Jones Cannon, was born in Reamsville, Kansas, on April 8, 1902. She attended school in Nelson and lived her adult life in Nelson. She was married to Claude A. Flower on June 1, 1920, in Nelson. To this union, three sons were born. She was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church for 58 years and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Bridgettes. After an illness of two months she entered the Hastings Hospital on July 29th, where she died at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 21 days. Ocie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude, who died on May 12, 1967; one son, Winston Leroy Flower; a grandson, David Flower; and one brother, Arden Cannon. She is survived by two sons, Duane Flower of Englewood, Colorado, and Lawrence Flower of Orange, California; one brother, Bluford Cannon of Nelson, and one sister, Arline (Mrs. Delbert Humston) of Ashland, Nebraska, and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services for Ocie C. Flower were held Tuesday, August 1, 1978, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Nelson. Reverend mike Orsted officiated. Music was furnished by Joe Ferebee and Esther Wehrman as accompanist. Casketbearers were Jake Chapman, Leroy Schott, Earl Schufeldt, O.O. Porter, Guy Bruce and C.E. Wehrman. Arrangements were made by Klawitter Funeral Home and burial was in the Nelson Cemetery.
