Klapp, son of Benjamin Otto and Emma Stauffer Klapp, was born on December 25, 1892, on a farm near Fostoria, Kan., and died on July 28, 1966, at the Clay County Hospital, at the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 3 days. Klapp, son of Benjamin Otto and Emma Stauffer Klapp, was born on December 25, 1892, on a farm near Fostoria, Kan., and died on July 28, 1966, at the Clay County Hospital, at the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 3 days. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, three sisters, a brother, and a stepson, David Waldean Horsfall. On January 10, 1916, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Bureman Horsfall in the parsonage at Idana, Kans., by the Rev. Robert Strain. After their marriage, the Klapps and her young son, David Waldean Horsfall, moved to a farm near Fostoria. In 1920 the family moved to Onaga, Kan., and Otto began work as a fireman on the Union Pacific Railroad. He retired in 1949. In 1938 the Klapps moved from Onaga to Mrs. Klapp's girlhood home, the C.G. Bureman farm, north of Oakhill, Kan. In 1962, they moved to 732 Grant Street in Clay Center. On January 16 of this year, he and Mrs. Klapp had the privilege of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Klapp was a devout Christian and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Oakhill. The night he entered the hospital, he audibly prayed for each of his near and dear ones, as well as for others, and that there might be peace in the world. He then sang, "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" with his youngest daughter, Marcena. The survivors are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Klapp, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Whitten (Alice Jewel) Patterson, Clay Center, Mrs. Kreth (Emma June) Richardson, Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs. Don (Lois May) Moore, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Mrs. Orval (Marcena) Kitchener, Oakhill; a nephew, Don Bureman, and wife, Lucille, of Clay Center, 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Oakhill on Saturday morning, July 30, 1966, with the Rev. W. Tillman officiating. Music was provided by Kenneth Bureman, who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Till We Meet Again." Mrs. Anna Morley served as organist. The pallbearers were George Taylor, Richard Taylor, Alvin Urban, Larry Lash, Earl Largent, and Howard Modley. Burial was in the Rose Meron Cemetery.
