He was born in Kentucky, lived there until about twenty years of age then moved with his parents to Ohio, where he married Mary Brown. He was born in Kentucky, lived there until about twenty years of age then moved with his parents to Ohio, where he married Mary Brown. They then moved to Indiana and from there to Clay Co., Kans. in 1871. He joined the M. E. Church in 1857 and in 1894 he united with the U. B. church in Green from which place the funeral, conducted by Rev. Bland and assisted by Rev. Brown, took place Monday at 10 o'clock a.m. He was laid to rest by the side of his wife, who died four years ago. He leaves two sons and three daughters. The Clay Center Dispatch, Clay Center, KS, July 8, 1897, Page 3, col 6 Green Died Sunday, July 4, at the residence of his son-in-law, Walter Slingsby, Paul Roberts, aged 82 years. The funeral was held at the U.B. church, Monday morning at 11:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Bland and assisted by Rev. Brown of the Baptist church, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Highland cemetery near town. Mr. Roberts was an old settler, having taken a homestead in Highland township on the section adjoining the one on which Green now stands in 1871. His wife preceded him almost four years ago.
