N. Pratt), at the age of 49 (just three days before her sister Hannah died). ------------------------------ Paulina's obituary was published in the "Buchanan Record" newspaper, in Buchanan, Michigan on Thursday, Nov. 14, 1889, page 3, column 2. It reads as follows: ------------------ Miss PAULINA FRENCH, sister of Samuel and J. E. [James Edgar] French, of this place [Buchanan], died suddenly at the home of her sister, Mrs. F. N. [Jane] Pratt, of this place [Buchanan], Saturday morning, aged 49 years. The remains were taken to the home of Mr. Samuel French, two miles south of town, Saturday afternoon, and the funeral services conducted by Rev. J. F. Bartmess from their home, Sunday afternoon. On Tuesday morning, another sister of Mr. [Samuel] French, Mrs. Francis W. [Hannah] Howe, died at their home, one mile south of this place [Buchanan], after a suffering illness of a dozen years, during the greater of which she has been nearly helpless. The funeral services were conducted at her late home, yesterday afternoon, by Rev. J. F. Bartmess. Mrs. [Hannah] Howe was 62 years of age.
