Description	:	EDGAR (TNS) — Pearl Melvin, 85, of Edgar died Monday in the Bethesda Care Center in Edgar. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Milliken officiating. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery. Mrs. Melvin was born at Oak March 6, 1898. She lived in the Nuckolls and Clay County area her entire life. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Angus and the American Legion Auxiliary. Hastings Tribune July 26, 1983 ****************************** Pearl Peters Melvin, daughter of William and Alice (Crandell) Peters departed this life suddenly July 25, 1983 at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 19 days. Pearl lived in Nuckolls and Clay Counties all of her life She graduated from the Edgar Public School in 1918. She was honored in May 1983 by the Edgar Alumni Association with a 65 year Certificate of Graduation. On Sept, 20, 1919 Pearl was united in marriage to Ervin Melvin who preceded her in death in Jan. 1951, To this union six children were born: Vernon Melvin, Mrs. Robert (Hazel) Powell, Mrs. Alvin (Arlene) Kort, Shirley Melvin, Leland Melvin and William Melvin. She was a member of the Church Of Christ and American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and two grandchildren. Among those who mourn her passing are her children: Shirley Melvin, Vernon and Catherine Melvin, Edgar; Arlene and Alvin Kort, Hastings, Nebr.; Hazel and Robert Powell, Lincoln, Nebr.; Leland and Viola Melvin, Gering, Nebr.; and William and Judith Melvin, Hastings, 11 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. One sister, Lois Strawser, Lincoln; two brothers and their wives: Ralph and Margaret Peters, Edgar; and Clark and Frances Peters,Hastings; and a sister-in-law: Verona Peters, Edgar, other relatives and friends.
