Description	:	Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church here at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, for Peter S. Schut, 82, lifelong resident of Sioux Center, who passed away June 28. Services were conducted by the Rev. John Roggen and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery. Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Schut, 82, lifelong resident of Sioux Center, who passed away June 28. Services were conducted by the Rev. John Roggen and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery. Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. A brief service was held at the funeral home preceding the service at the church. Mr. Schut was born May 22, 1876, and was a Sunday school teacher for 45 years at the First Reformed church. In addition he was a member of the church consistory for 28 years. Mr. Schut also was first president of the Sioux Center Co-operative creamery. He held the office 13 years. He was a member of the town council for six years and an active farm bureau member since the group's inception in 1913. Mr. Schut was born on his father's farm located 2 1/2 miles east of Sioux Center, which was homesteaded in 1872. He was married to Ella Vermeer April 26, 1899 and the couple continued to live on the family farm until 1927, when they moved into Sioux Center. Survivors include four children: Sam, Ed and Miss Fannie, all of Sioux Center, and Miss Edna of sioux City; two brothers, Sam of Clinton, Wis., and Frank fo Hobart, Ind.; a sister, Sandrene Schut, of Grand Haven, Mich.; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death May 3, 1956.
