He was born on June 2, 1883 at Merrimac, Iowa, the son of Valentine and Elizabeth Baldosier Hinkle. He was married on April 1, 1906, to Elvira shook, who died in 1920. On June 2, 1924, he was married to Laura Clawson Canaris at Kahoka, Missouri. Mr. Hinkle was a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Carmen) Barr, Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Glen (Marcella) Graber, Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Robert Hinkle, Ft, Madison, and John E. Hinkle, Winfield; a step-daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Georgianna) Frederick, Oshkosh, Wisconsin; one brother, Ernest Hinkle, Washington; one sister, Mrs. Ella Rich, Morning sun Manor; ten grandsons; ten granddaughters; ten great-grandsons; and seven great-granddaughters and two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Hinkle, Lockridge and Mrs. Norma Boeding, West Point, Iowa. His parents, one son, Peter Hinkle Jr., who died in 1966, and one step-son, Richard Canaris, three brother and six sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Trenton Methodist Church with Rev Earl Streyffeller and Rev. Herbert DeMello officiating. Interment will be in Green Mound Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Beatty-Jennings funeral Home in Wayland.
