Pleasant. She was born Sept. 24, 1899, in New London, the daughter of Frank L. and Georgia Pixley Clawson. On June 29, 1919, she married Peter Canaris, who preceded her in death. She later married Peter S. Hinkle Sr. on June 2, 1924. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1971. She was born Sept. 24, 1899, in New London, the daughter of Frank L. and Georgia Pixley Clawson. On June 29, 1919, she married Peter Canaris, who preceded her in death. She later married Peter S. Hinkle Sr. on June 2, 1924. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1971. She was a graduate of New London High School and attended Cedar Falls College and Wesleyan College in Mt. Peasant. She taught school for 23 years in rural schools, and at the Mt. Pleasant Middle School. She was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church, the Ladies Aide of the church, and was active in many Bible study groups. She was also a member of the Trenton Legion Auxiliary and the retired teachers association. Survivors include: two sons. Robert L. Hinkle of Ft. Madison, and John E. Hinkle of Winfield; one daughter, Georgianna Fredrick of Oshkosh, Wis.; one step-daughter, Carman Barr of Mt. Pleasant; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two sons, Richard Canaris and Peter Hinkle; one step-daughter, Marcella Graber; a brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Jeffrey McPheron officiating. Burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery west of Trenton. Friends may call as they wish starting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established to the Trenton United Methodist Church or to the Green Mound Cemetery.
