After a brief stay at Camp Dodge he was sent to Jefferson Barracks, Missouri and from there to Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, where he was assigned to Co K. 133rd Inf 34 Division. After a long period at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, he was sent overseas with his regiment landing in Ireland on March 3, 1942. Later his outfit moved to England, and he spent the next Christmas and New Years on the Atlantic ocean on his way to Africa, landing at Oran, North Africa. This was followed by participation in the North African campaign In which the American Army aided by Canadians and British, drove the Nazis out of that continent and later from Sicily. Milvoy Blaha was born on the home farm on May 15, 1910, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Blaha. He attended the local school and then spent a year in Belle Plaine high school before quitting because of ill health. After he left school, Milvoy worked for his father and other farmers in that community and then for several years before entering the military service was employed as a carpenter at Elberon. He was confirmed In the Catholic faith when a child. He was also a member of the Z. C B. J. lodge of Irving Surviving are his parents, sisters, Mrs. Ollie Kremenak of Clutier and Mrs. Charles. J. Dvorak of Chelsea and one brother, Glenn at home. There are also a number of more distant relatives. The Legion funeral service will be conducted from Hrabak Funeral home as soon as the remains arrive. Burial will be at National cemetery near Vining. Blaha, who live 5 mile s northwest of Belle Plaine on Route 2 of Chelsea, Tama County, received a telegram Saturday from the Adjutant General of the Army informing them that their son, Pfc. Milvoy J. Blaha was killed in action in the North African Area on October 2, 1943, and that a letter will follow. No further details were given. The last letter received from the young soldier was dated September 12th but did not state where he was located at that time. However, it is known that he was in a number of battles in Africa last spring and summer, and it was believed that he was among the troops that invaded Sicily and later went into Italy. He was a member of Company K of the 113rd Infantry, 34th division. Young Blaha's military record date s back to May 2, 1941, when he was inducted from Tama County. In addition to his parents, Milvoy is survived by the following: Two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Kremenak of Clutier, and Miss Mayme Blaha of Chelsea, and one brother, Glenn Blaha, at home.
