Description	:	Rachel (Clemens) Morehead was born January 4, 1871 in Atchison County, Missouri, to Robert J. and Martha Clemens. She died at Goldendale, August 3, 1971, at the age of 100 years and 7 months When she was four she moved with her parents to Reamsville, Smith County, Kansas. The family started for the Far West October 17, 1887, and arrived at Toledo, Washington on November 1, 1887. After spending one winter there they moved to Centerville. Read More	Rachel (Clemens) Morehead was born January 4, 1871 in Atchison County, Missouri, to Robert J. and Martha Clemens. She died at Goldendale, August 3, 1971, at the age of 100 years and 7 months When she was four she moved with her parents to Reamsville, Smith County, Kansas. The family started for the Far West October 17, 1887, and arrived at Toledo, Washington on November 1, 1887. After spending one winter there they moved to Centerville. She was married to William Morehead March 24, 1889. They farmed in the Horseshoe Bend Area until 1925 when they moved to Byron, Yakima County, Washington. After nine years they moved back to Goldendale. She was formerly an active member of the Grange. For many years she was a member and attendant of the Horseshoe Bend Methodist Church. Her husband, William Morehead, preceded her in death in October, 1945. One son, William H. died in September 1954. She also had two daughters and one son who died in infancy. For the last seven years, Mrs. Morehead has lived in Goldendale with her daughter, Ethel McIntyre, who has tirelessly devoted herself to the care of her aged mother. Mrs. Morehead is also survived by her daughter Jewel Edmison, Ellensburg; two sons, Irvin of Wahkiacus, and Robert of Colville; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. The funeral service was held at the Knosher Funeral Home Saturday with Rev. W.N. Byars officating. Pallbearers were Harry Compher, Raymond Schurtz, Clyde Sidener, Ez Kaiser, Ruic Goodwin and John Roberts. Interment was in the Goldendale IOOF Cemetery.
