Read More	Ralph Virgil Baker was born on March 26, 1911 in Johnson County, Kansas, the son of John W. and Mary Ellen Baker. He graduated from DeSoto High School. By 1935 he had moved to Los Angeles and was working as a clerk and living with his brother-in-law Lyle Morgan. On May 19, 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in Los Angeles. Just about two years later, on June 3, 1944 he married Edna Viola Halverson at her parents home in Valley Springs, South Dakota, having met her at a USO event at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in nearby Hills, Minnesota. The family ended up in Lawrence, Kansas where Ralph and Edna owned and operated Dairi-King for fourteen years. They moved back to Omaha to be near their daughter Karen and her family, ending up in a continuing care place where he died. Ralph was my grand-uncle and much love by me and all of our extended family. He was remarkable and kind. My favorite memory of Ralph was from the 60th wedding anniversary party in 2004 in Omaha. Someone asked Ralph the secret of his long and happy marriage and he said "Well, you need to say those three little words often." As we smiled, and he paused, then he said: "You're right, dear!" He was a lovable man and is much missed. Written by his grandniece, Diane Scholten (his wife Edna was the youngest sister of my grandma, Myrtle Halvorson Scholten)
