Description	:	Raymond G. Porter- Raymond Gilbert Porter, son of Walter W. and Stella May Porter, was born at Renolds, Neb. On Feb. 21, 1890, and died at his home near Vesta, Oct. 29, at the age of 59 years, eight months, and eight days. Early in his life he moved with his family to Adams, where he grew to manhood. Porter- Raymond Gilbert Porter, son of Walter W. and Stella May Porter, was born at Renolds, Neb. On Feb. 21, 1890, and died at his home near Vesta, Oct. 29, at the age of 59 years, eight months, and eight days. Early in his life he moved with his family to Adams, where he grew to manhood. He took his place in the service of his country in World War I and served overseas in England and France. He was discharged in 1919. After his discharge he did carpenter work. On June 6, 1922, he was united in marriage to Miss. Ella Wehmer at Tecumseh, and they established their home in Adams. To this union were born two children, Merla Mae, and Ruth Irene. In September, 1925 his wife died, leaving him with two little baby girls. On Feb. 4, 1927, he was married to Miss. Dena Wehmer at Fairbury, and their home was established on a farm near Beatrice. To this union were born two children, Roy Keith and June Marcile . Since 1932 the family home has been near Crab Orchard. Early in life he received Christian baptism in the Presbyterian Chuch. He leaves his wife, Dena; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Laug, of Tecumseh, Mrs. Kenneth Thober, of Beatrice and Miss. June Porter of the home; one son, Roy Keith Porter of the home; two grandchildren, Judy Gail and Robert Lavern Thober. He also leaves one half-brother, Fred Barmore of Lexington and one half -sister, Mrs. J.W. Spellman of Adams. Funeral services were held Nov. 1st at Harman mortuary with the Rev. Ross McCown officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Adams. Cousins of the deceased, Kirby Harper and Mrs. Edwin Mohrhoff, sang. Pallbearers were Eldon Fricks, Martin Wilkinson, John Laug, Charles Wagner, George Spellman and Everett DeBoer. Among the relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Fred Barmore and Dick of Lexington, Ira Harper, Mrs. Fred Schmidt, Mrs. Lela Barber, Mr. and Mrs. George Furry of Fairbury, Harm Wehmer, Anne and Jake Wehmer, Mr. and Mrs. Shannon Hazen of Sterling, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Boone and Norman of Elk Creek, Mr. and Mrs. George Wehmer and Lloyd of Tecumseh, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Goldenstein, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Goldenstein and family, Mrs. Edwin Mohrhoff of Lincoln, Mrs. I.G. Campbell of Crete, Mr. and Mrs. Caryl Perry of Fremont, Jake Stindt, of Republic , Kansas, and many others from Adams, Crab Orchard and Beatrice vicinity.
