The funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Aug. 18, by her pastor, E. A. McKim. The services were held at the Belinda Church of Christ, and interment made in the Strong cemetery. Rebecca Anna Byers was born in Marion county, Iowa, September 23, 1866, and was reared in that county. She was married to W. E. Carter, February 22, 1899 and to this union two children were born, one of which died in infancy and Nancy Marie, aged 12 years, who together with her husband survive her. She also leaves three brothers, N. N. Byers and H. L. Byers of Belinda, and David of Los Angeles, Calif., and a host of other relatives and friends. On February 8, 1882 she united with the Church of Christ at Belinda, and has lived a consistent Christian life since that time. Deceased ever took pleasure in the fact that her parents were pioneer worshipers with the Belinda congregation. As a Christian, Anna was always humble and trustful, possessing those qualities as are mentioned by our Savior. She was left for a number of years to care for her aged father and mother. Never was a daughter more kind and dutiful to parents than she. She was of a happy nature and had a kind word for every one around her. She was an ideal mother, her whole life being centered in her home and family. A few days before her death she gave her husband instructions regarding Marie, and said she was ready to go. She was respected, honored and loved by all who knew her. Her sudden death brought sorrow to the entire community.
