Read More	PILOT MOUNTAIN - Rebecca Fulk Blalock of Pilot Mountain died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at her family home, 401 Butler St. in Pilot Mountain. This is the same home where she was born on June 21, 1921, and married on Jan. 9, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Wilson and Drusilla Forkner Fulk. She was the widow of attorney John Henry Blalock who predeceased her in 1964. She was also predeceased by a son, attorney John H. Blalock Jr.; three brothers; Arthur P. Fulk, Clayton M. Fulk and Charles W. Fulk; and three sisters, Myrtle F. Nichols, Fannie F. Fowler and Magdalene F. Reid. Rebecca grew up in Pilot Mountain where she was valedictorian at Pilot Mountain High School. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.A. in history. Rebecca was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Pilot Mountain and was active in the United Methodist Women. She was a charter member and officer of the Pilot Mountain Garden Club. She was also a member of Friends of the Library, longtime member of Eastern Star, Home Extension Club and Surry County Democratic Women. Rebecca was most recently presented the Star Democrat Award of 2007 granted by the Democratic Women of N.C. She was selected as Citizen of the Year by the Pilot Mountain Women' s Club in 2005. Rebecca was also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Pilot Mountain Restoration Committee in 2004. She was truly an ambassador for the Town of Pilot Mountain and a charter member of the Downtown Revitalization Committee. She was known for her lifelong accomplishments to her family, church and community. Surviving are three daughters, Sally Ann Blalock of Pilot Mountain; Martha Blalock Mebane and husband Robert of Rutherfordton; and Annette Blalock Hill of Pilot Mountain; and five grandchildren, Robert, Sally and Sam Mebane and Nathaniel and Charles Michael Hill. A celebration of life for Rebecca will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at First United Methodist Church of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. Entombment will follow with rites by Pilot Mountain Chapter 23 OES in Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030; First United Methodist Parsonage Fund, P.O. Box 696, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041; or the Downtown Restoration Committee, 124 W. Main St., Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain is assisting the Blalock family.
