She suffered from Bright’s disease and was also thought to have cancerous growth. Her body was shipped to Villisca last Saturday and the funeral services were held from the Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m., Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. S. Menoher. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. The funeral was one of the largest attended in Villisca, as Mrs. Hall had numberless friends in this city and was well known throughout this part of Montgomery County. Rebecca M. Overman was born in Highland County, Ohio, the twenty-seventh of March, 1851, and was 63 years, 1 month, and 10 days of age at the time of death. She was one of a family of twelve, the parents being Eiljah and Rebecca Spargur Overman. The family lived in Ohio until 1861 when they moved to Iowa, settling in Villisca. Here her father died December 1875, and her mother December 1905, and both were buried in the Villisca Cemetery. Miss Rebeca joined the Methodist Church of this city in 1863 and had been a member since, being one of the oldest members of this church. She was married to Calvin H. Hall in this city in 1870 and to this union four children were born, three sons and one daughter. The eldest, a son Harry, died in infancy, but he others grew to man and womanhood in the home in which they were born near this city. Their present homes are Byron W. at Benson, Nebraska; Cushman C. at Omaha; the daughter, Mrs. Elzena A. Chiles at Dallas Center, Iowa. Mrs. Hall’s whole aim in life was to raise her children so that they would not feel her life’s work lost and she was proud to say it was not. she not only worked hard in her own family, but she helped her neighbors time after time when they needed it and for this reason, she has so many friends in this city. She was a consistent church worker and helped in building up the standing of the local Methodist Church. she assisted in moulding of Villisca and the citizens of this city owe much to her. Mr. and mrs. Hall moved to Benson about four years ago, but had visited here several times since their removal. Of this family of twelve, the Overmans, who came to Villisca in the sixties only five are living. They are Thomas, Asa, and Aaron of Villisca, Bonter of Delaware, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Anna Stipe of Santiago, California. Mrs. Stipe was the only one of the immediate family who was not present at the funeral services. Those deceased are Eli, Joseph, Isaac, John and Elijah, the latter being killed in the battle of Chattanooga of the Civil War in 1864, and Nancy and Phoebe, who died in this city. The family is known throughout this part of the state, as they not only assisted in making Villisca, but also the county and state. Every member is and was a hard worker and each bears the respect of the entire community. Besides those relatives mentioned above, Mrs. Hall is survived by many other distantly related, many of who are living in this vicinity. Those from a distance who attended the funeral services are her husband, Benson, Mr. and mrs. Bryson W. Hall of Benson;Mr. and Mrs C. C. Hall of Omaha, Dr. and Mrs. Chiles of Dallas Center, Iowa.
