Description	:	Reuben Samuel Johnston, 87, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Harlan Nursing Home in Bonaparte. He had resided at the home since September of last year. He was born near Stockport June 25, 1866, the son of Robert and Hannah Johnston. He was married March 1, 1888, to Mary E. McKee, who died Oct 5, 1907. To this marriage were born two sons, Grant and Ralph Johnston both of Birmingham. On Sept 20, 1911 he married Dessie Roberts, who preceded him in death September 22, 1945. He had resided at the home since September of last year. He was born near Stockport June 25, 1866, the son of Robert and Hannah Johnston. He was married March 1, 1888, to Mary E. McKee, who died Oct 5, 1907. To this marriage were born two sons, Grant and Ralph Johnston both of Birmingham. On Sept 20, 1911 he married Dessie Roberts, who preceded him in death September 22, 1945. Two daughters, Mrs. Harry Mahon of Stockport and Mrs. Mary Elson, Center Point and one son, Glen L. Johnston of Birmingham, were born to this marriage. Mr. Johnston was a member of the Presbyterian church at Birmingham and lived on a farm in the Bethel community for 46 years until he moved to Birmingham in 1937 when he retired. Survivors are his three sons and two daughters, 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildern. One brother and four sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the Birmingham Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. Oct 1 with the Rev. H. C. Irvine officiating. Burial was in Birmingham Maple Hill cemetery.
