Zeman, age 73, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Pocahontas, passed away Monday, March 21, 2005 at Trinity Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Pocahontas, with Military rites by the Pocahontas American Legion. Gerald Louis Zeman was born July 10, 1931, at Pocahontas. He was the son of Roy and Elizabeth (Stanek) Zeman. In 1950, he graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Pocahontas and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. Following his military service, Fr. Zeman attended and graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, received his theology training at St. Bernard Seminary in Dubuque and earned his master's degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. He was ordained into the priesthood on June 1, 1963, at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City. He served as a parish priest throughout t he Sioux city Diocese and enjoyed working with the youth. He was known for his Cadillac cars that he enjoyed driving and loaning to others, especially to high school students during prom. He retired in July, 2001 and moved to Pocahontas. Due to health reasons, Fr. Zeman moved to Holy Spirit Retirement Home, Sioux City, and t hen to the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. Survivors include his brother Robert (Irene) Zeman of Pocahontas; sister Catherine (Don) Auten of Pocahontas, sister in law Lavon Zeman of Pocahontas; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Fr.
