Description	:	Richard E. Hartman, 90, of Elida, passed away on Tuesday June 9, 2015, at his residence. He was born on June 23, 1924, in Parkview, VA, to Henry and Elizabeth Hartman. He was united in marriage to L. Esther Diller on July 20, 1947, who survives in Elida. Richard was co-owner of Hartman Brothers Lumber since 1945. Richard was a life time member at Pike Mennonite Church, where he was a trustee and librarian. He was also a Gideon Representative. Hartman, 90, of Elida, passed away on Tuesday June 9, 2015, at his residence. He was born on June 23, 1924, in Parkview, VA, to Henry and Elizabeth Hartman. He was united in marriage to L. Esther Diller on July 20, 1947, who survives in Elida. Richard was co-owner of Hartman Brothers Lumber since 1945. Richard was a life time member at Pike Mennonite Church, where he was a trustee and librarian. He was also a Gideon Representative. Richard attended school in Scottdale, PA, and graduated from Elida high school. He was a stamp collector since 1932, loved gardening, and loved weaving rag rugs, which he donated many to church auctions. Richard had a strong passion for reading, but most of all he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by three sons, David (Gina) Hartman of Columbus Grove, Paul (Marsha) Hartman of Oceanside, CA, and Joe (Cindy) Hartman of Elida; one daughter, Diane (Donald) Rodden of Elida; brother, Paul Hartman of Millersburg, OH; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild, a great-grandchild, and sister-in-law, Laura Hartman. Visitation will be on Friday June 12, 2015, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pike Mennonite Church in Elida. Funeral services will be on Saturday June 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. with calling one hour prior to the service at the church. Reverend Glenn Rader will . Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon Association or charity of donor’s Choice. Arrangements are with Harter and Schier Funeral Home.
