Read More	Richard Lynn 'Dick' Hannah Thursday, May 25, 2006 Feb. 28, 1930 - May 23, 2006 STRATTON -- Richard Lynn "Dick" Hannah died Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at his rural home south of Stratton. He was 76 years old. He was born Feb. 28, 1930 in Stratton to Charles Errol and Selma Pearl (Evans) Hannah. He grew up in rural Stratton on the family farm and graduated from Stratton High School in 1947. On Dec. 22, 1950, he married Lorraine Maddux in Stratton. They made their home on the Hannah family farm where they grew wheat and raised livestock. Dick joined the U.S. Air Force in August of 1951 where he was stationed in Tripoli, Africa during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of the Stratton United Methodist Church for 54 years, where he served in many capacities including Sunday school, MYF Sponsor, and lay leader. Dick served on the Selective Service Board for 13 years. He also served on the Hitchcock County Farm Bureau Board, School Board, Cemetery Board, Pork Producers Board, vice-president of the ASCS, and was a 4-H Leader for many years. He was among the first in the county to practice Eco-fallow farming. Farming was Dick's life and love until a disabling stroke February 12, 1996. Dick enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed teaching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all aspects of the farm life. Even after his debilitating stroke, watching the antics of his grandchildren always brought a raised eyebrow, smile or a chuckle. In his later years Dick was an avid miniature tractor collector and his extensive display was admired by friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Selma Hannah; and one grandson, Heath R. Todd. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Stratton; daughters, Diana Lynn and husband, Jerry Latta, of Stratton and Sue and husband, Tom Cassen, of Berryton, Kan.; grandchildren, Clint Latta and wife, Jody, of Stratton, Shari Rooney and husband, Chad, of Lincoln, Joni Ernst and husband, Ryan, of Lincoln, Heather Dye and husband, Don, of Gering; Heidi Hueftle of McCook, Eric Cassen and wife, Shawna, of Topeka, Kan., and Tommie Cassen of Topeka; 16 great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Memorials may be given in his name. Visitation will be today at the Stratton Community United Methodist Church from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday, May 26, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at the Stratton Community United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Fong officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Forch Funeral Chapel of Stratton is in charge of the arrangements.
