Read More	Transcript Obituary transcribed 20 July 2003, by Barbara Bellot THE WENATCHEE DAILY WORLD WENATCHEE, WASHINGTON MONDAY OCTOBER 4, 1915 Ex-Sheriff Webb Dead Pioneer of North Central Washington Died of Bowel Trouble R. P. Webb, pioneer of North Central Washington, successful grower, and an active worker in Masonry, died Saturday afternoon at the Deaconess hospital after a brief illness. Death was caused by bowel trouble, in the death of Mr. Webb, the community loses one of its foremost citizens, a man who grew up with the country, fearless, honorable, capable, liked by his friends and admired by all. Mr. Webb was born in Webbville, Ky., March 14, 1858. He left his home in Kentucky in 1879, and spent several years in various parts of the west finally locating in Lincoln county, near Waterville in the section now called Douglas county in 1884. He ranched there for a number of years, and was prominent in the organization of the new county, the establishment of schools, building of roads, and was in a number of other ways identified with the developing of the country. He was at one time deputy sheriff of Douglas county under S.C. Robbins. In 1889, he moved to the Wenat- chee Valley buying his present or- chard on the lower Monitor road from Judge Chase. In 1904, he was elected sheriff of Chelan county on the democratic ticket and again in 1906, both times when there was a republican landslide. His rec- cord in the sheriff’s office reveals clearly his efficiency and capabilities. He was a charter member of the Riverside lodge No. 125 F. & A.M. And was elected its first worshipful master. He was also charter mem- ber of Wenatchee chapter, No. 22, R.A.M., of Chas. B. Read council, R. & S.M., of the Columbia Com- mandery, No.14, Knights Templar: and was a member of the Afifi Tem- ple, Mystic Shrine, Tacoma. Since his first connection with Masonry, he has been a tireless worker for the order. He was married at Waterville to Miss. Alice Hensel. Besides his wife he leaves four children, Mrs. M. Peters, George W. Webb, Chas. Clifford Webb and Lawrence W. Webb. He has a brother, E.H.D Webb living in East Wenatchee. The funeral service will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Masonic temple. It will be conducted by the Masons, assisted by Rev. H. Gordon Bennett of the Christian church, of which church he was a member at Waterville for 20 years. The remains will be taken to the parlors of the Wenatchee Undertak- ing company after the services to await burial in the Wenatchee Mausoleum.
