He was the brother of Mrs. Lum Higgins and James Higgins of this vicinity and resided in this community may years before moving to Corning. The Rev. Arthur Eastman pastor of the Corning Methodist Church had charge of the serviced here Sunday. Singing was by a quartet composed of J. L. Todd, I. W. Scott, H. H. North, an dR. J. Swanson. Pall bearers were neighbors from the vicinity east of Corning and interment was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Robert Higgins was born November 30, 1867 in Hillsboro, Ohio, son of Jacob W. and Margaret Ballentine Higgins. He came to this city in 1870 with his parents. On September 18, 1898 he was married to Miss Margaret Slack and to this union five children were born. With the exception of a few years when the family resided in Modale, Iowa, Mr. Higgins lived in this and the Corning vicinity for the last sixty-one years. He moved to the farm east of Corning nine years ago. He is survived by his wife and by two sons and two daughters, who are Ray and Harry of the vicinity of Corning and Hannah and who reside at home. He also leaves his sister Mrs. Lum Higgins, Villisca and one brother, Jas. Higgins of this vicinity. One daughter, Hettie Margaret died in infancy, and three sisters preceded him in death.
