Robert, who was the eldest son of the late R. J. and Nettie Nelson, was born in Monroe, January 28, 1878, and practically his entire lifetime was spent in Monroe. He had been in poor health for a number of years but never gave up until this summer when he was compelled to take his bed. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Inez Ramsey, and one son, Robert, Jr., 6 years of age, four sisters, Mrs. R. C. Sparks, Mrs. B. D. Hodges, Mrs. J. K. Briggs of Monroe, Mrs. George H. Powell, of Boston and two brothers, [Mr.] James I. Nelson of Dallas and Mr. Will B. Nelson of Wichita, Kansas. The funeral services will be conducted at 4 o'clock this afternoon at the home of his aunt, Mrs. J. L. Nelson, 114 Jackson street, interment being in the family burial plot in the Monroe City Cemetery.
