Read More	Glasco Sun, Feb. 27, 1947, page 1: Robert McDonald Gray, son of John Milton Gray and Margaret Coon Gray, was born in Coles county, Illinois, January 29, 1852, and died at his home in Glasco, Kansas, February 23, 1947, at the age of 95 years and 25 days. He was the last member of his family to pass away, all of them living to be past 80 years of age. He moved with his parents to Glasco in 1871, where they homesteaded on a farm four and one-half miles north of Glasco. When Mr. Gray became older, he took up the carpenter's trade, and has helped build most of the older residences in this community. When the Presbyterian church was built, he moved the first shovelfull of earth for the foundation, and went on to help build the church. On march 24, 1881, Mr. Gray was united in marriage to Mary F. Pilcher by the Rev. Newton Bracken. To this union five children were born: Waldo Gray, Glasco, Kansas; Mrs. Ora Everley, Long Beach, Calif.; Howard Gray, Glasco, Kansas; and Ernest Gray of Salem, Oregon; all of whom survive; and one son, Frankie, who died in 1892 at the age of four years. His wife died September 12, 1908. Mr. Gray was a devout Christian, and was ordained as elder of the Presbyterian church in 1886, and always preached that God is our Overseer and Master. He has been confined to his home the past three years, where his sons, Waldo and Howard, have given him all the care anyone could render, until he was called home to rest. Besides his children who survive him, he leaves to mourn his death eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church in Glasco Tuesday afternoon, February 25, at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. C.L. Moody officiating. Music was supplied by Mrs. Howe Jordan and Mrs. Fred Harper, accompanied by Mrs. O.L. Norton at the piano. Pallbearers were John Bullock, Ed Bracken, David Rinehart, Morris Beisner, Wilbur Nowels, and Charles Studt. Flower bearers were Mrs. Lloyd Teasley and Mrs. earl Teasley. Interment was made in Glasco cemetery, with the Griffith Funeral home in charge.
